Install MangoHud

The official README.md provides general steps in section Installation - Build From Source:

git clone --recurse-submodules https://github.com/flightlessmango/MangoHud.git
cd MangoHud
meson setup build -Dwith_xnvctrl=disabled # Disable xnvctrl as NVIDIA GPU statistics are not needed
sudo ninja -C build install

It is recommended to install all build dependencies beforehand:

sudo apt update
sudo apt install -y gcc g++ glslang-tools meson ninja-build  libglvnd-dev mesa-common-dev libx11-dev libxkbcommon-dev libxnvctrl-dev libdbus-1-dev libwayland-dev python3-mako python3-pip

Verify if MangoHud has been installed correctly:

mangohud --version

For OpenGL programs, add --dlsym:

mangohud --dlsym app

Update MangoHud​

  1. Get the latest code:

    cd MangoHud
    git pull origin master

  2. Recompile and install:

    meson setup build --prefix /usr
    ninja -C build
    sudo ninja -C build install
